Eric Farm, PE, ACF
Owner-Managing Member
With over 20 years of experiencing managing over 100,000 acres of timberland in western Oregon, Eric has worked his entire forestry career in the private sector where he has developed a depth of experience in industrial forest management, sustainable forestry certification and forestland as an investment option.
Eric enjoys employing his leadership experience at the interface between technical experts, policymakers, and the public to find truly sustainable solutions.
Eric currently serves as the Vice President of the Oregon International Port of Coos Bay’s Board of Commissioners; the Chair of the Coos County Salmon and Trout Enhancement Program Commission; Board member of Douglas Timber Operators; Appointed to the Southwest Oregon Regional Forest Practice Committee; is a Finance Committee Member at Bay Area Hospital and a certified member of the Association of Consulting Foresters.
Prior to starting his forestry career, Eric served for four and a half years as a combat engineer officer with the 1st Armored Division in Germany, Bosnia, and Kosovo.
Eric graduated from the University of Washington with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Forest Engineering and has earned his Professional Engineering license.
The Hagenstein Lectures is a new, exciting, high-profile public outreach initiative led by the World Forestry Center and the Society of American Foresters to honor the legacy and memory of professional forester William D. Hagenstein, who died in Portland at age 99 in 2014.

Barbara McIntosh
GIS / Office Manager
With over 30 years of experience, Barbara holds a well-rounded background in the forest industry within Southwestern Oregon having worked for a local fire protection district, a small private timber company, a large timberland investment company as well as a forestry consulting firm. She possesses a vast knowledge base in systems, process management and analysis.
Barbara manages the spatial data at Farm Unlimited using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to produce resources analysis data such as harvest planning, protected resource screening, high risk location assessments and long-range management plans. This data coupled with her detailed cartography skills, allow Farm Unlimited the ability to provide our clients with the highest quality map products to assist our customers in making decisions that best meet their specific management objectives.
As Office Manager, Barbara is responsible for all aspects of office administration, including contracting, insurance compliance, invoicing and land record management.
Barbara holds specialized training in:
- ESRI ArcDesktop Spatial Analyst, and Model Builder
- BLM O&C Reciprocal Right-of-Way Training
- Oregon OSHA Workplace Safety Training.
Barbara holds an Associates in Applied Science in Computer Information Systems from Southwestern Oregon Community College
Tyson Merritt
Forester

Tyson has over 15 years of experience in the forest industry, all of which has been working on lands in southwest Oregon. Tyson is our resident silviculture expert and is responsible for all facets of reforestation, site preparation, brush control, animal damage and fire prevention/suppression. He holds a Commercial Pesticide Applicator license through the Oregon Department of Agriculture and is qualified to both apply and supervise the application of pesticides on client lands to best meet their land management goals.
Tyson has directly supervised the reforestation of over 75,000 acres throughout his career and inspects each project to ensure it meets the highest standard so each landowner will have a healthy and productive forest again. Tyson’s vast experience working with fire on the forested landscape ensures we always have an eye out for fire prevention opportunities on our client’s land.
Tyson also has strong relationships with the local forestry labor contractors which allows us to secure the highest quality contractors. His project preparation and management ensure that client projects are completed on time and on budget.

James Hill
Forester
With over ten years of experience, James takes the lead on all cruising and inventory projects for the firm. These projects come in all sizes from small family ownerships to large timberland owners. This timber and timberland information can be used for:
- timber sales bids
- purchasing/selling timberland
- dispute resolutions
- estate valuations
James’ background touches many different aspects of our industry including manufacturing, fire suppression and working on a logging crew. This experience, along with his degree in Forest Operations Management from Oregon State University, give him the background required to quickly estimate timber values and forestry related costs.
James also has great connections with contractors that specialize in forest measurement which allows Farm Unlimited to quickly scale up for projects of any size. His experience with the industry leading data collection software ensures we are able to quickly collect and process the field measurements and provide them in an easily understood report to the client.
